Having the right workout clothing is essential for you to make the most out of your exercise. If you’re working out in the gym or any other place with plenty of people, you also want to be presentable and stylish. Can you achieve this and still work out comfortably? Here are some things to look out for when selecting workout attire:
Avoid Sloppy Clothes
This one is common with those who are out of shape, perhaps just beginning to work out. When everybody else working out around you seems so fit, don’t you just want to hide your unflattering body behind oversize clothes? Baggy sweatshirts, Tshirts or shorts are likely to be top of your list. However, these clothes have plenty of cons.
To begin with, they’re not presentable and will dent your workout morale. They’re cumbersome as you exercise and hardly absorb the sweat. If you’re exercising with workout machines such as the treadmill, your baggy clothes can get caught exposing you to injury. If your pants/shorts are too large, you have to keep pulling them up which is very uncomfortable. No matter what shape you’re in, fitting workout clothes are your best bet.
Pick the right Fabric
Select workout attire that allows wicking, which refers to the process of drawing sweat away from the skin to allow it to evaporate fast and keep the body cool. Fabrics containing plypropylene fall in this category. Cotton is a good choice for a light workout but not where sweating is involved. The fabric soaks in sweat making it heavy and uncomfortable.
Keep away from fabrics that do not breathe such as those made out of plastic based or rubber based materials. Such fabrics trap sweat against the skin preventing it from evaporating and raising your body temperature in the process.
Choose a fitting Sports Bra
A god quality sports bra is a must have in every woman’s wardrobe. The bigger your bust is, the more the importance of getting good support. If your bust flaps up and down as you exercise, you will not only be uncomfortable but you’re likely to deal with backaches as well. The sight is also not flattering is it? The sports bra should ensure that your bust is held in place as you exercise.
Consider your Footware
Your workout shoes should be comfortable and stable. The sole should be thick enough to provide ample cushioning to the feet. It should be inclined appropriately to prevent the foot from rolling inwards after stepping on the ground. Arch support is essential especially where running is involved. There are several types of shoes designed for different kinds of workouts; be sure to get your best fit.
You should now be able to select workout attire that will give you the best experience. Working out should not be like a punishment. It should be something enjoyable and work looking forward to. Having the right clothing will go a long way in making it just that.
